OMG LMIRL

Text messaging and on-line chat requires slang. In addition to the age-old tradition of dropping vowels (we stll undrstnd Englsh wthout thm), Internet and texting slang phrases use creativity and imagination to create acronyms that sometimes necessitate research. Wikipedia has a concise dictionary of popular Internet slang phrases. So examples include:

YTMND = your the man now, dog
WYSIWYG = what you see is what you get

Lamer = one who is lame

TLDR = too long didn't read

Snail mail

sk8r boi (avril levigne is lamer)

prOn = intentional misspelling of porn

LMIRL = let's meet in real life
